The aim of the study was to investigate Octreotide (OCT), a synthetic somatostatin analogue, effects on oxidant -antioxidant status and lung histopathology in experimental sepsis. Fourty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups. Group SHAM underwent only laparotomy. In Group SEPSİS, OCT-50 and OCT-100 were performed sepsis by Cecal Ligation and Perforation (CLP) technique. Group OCT-50 and group OCT-100 received subcutanously (sc) OCT 50 μg/kg and 100 μg/kg respectively after CLP. Group SHAM and group SEPSİS received in same time, route and dose SF. All rats after operation at 24 h. were sacrificed and collected blood and lung tissue samples. Erythrocyte GSH, plasma MDA and lung histopathology were assessed. In group SEPSİS , while MDA levels and lung damage scors increased in sepsis periods, GSH decreased when compared with group SHAM (p
