Intrahepatic Cholestasis

Eleven patients with ıntrahepatic c:holestasis were treated in our clinic. Sir patıents were female and 5 mala, the mean age was 46.1 (23 to 69). The complainis and physical findings of patients 'vere compatable with obstructive jaundica. To-laf bilirubin was high lt al! patients, especially direci bilirubin levefs. Alkaline phosphatase was high in 10 patients and normal in 1 patient. SGOT was high in 7 patients and SGPT was high in 8 patients. Ultrasonographic examination revealed that intrahepaiic bile ducts were normal in all patients and extrahepatic bile ducts were normal in 10 patients and suspicious bile stone iınage was obtained in 1 patient. Percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography (PTC) was performed in 8 patıents and we were suc-cessful in 6 of (hem. In 5 of 6 patients, extrahepatic bile ducts and bile flow to duodenum was nor-mal. In 1 patient, functional chaledochoduodenosiomy was determined. Ali pıotisıtts received rnedical therapy and one patient died due to hepatoremal syndrome. In‘rakepasic cholestasis olay be confu.sed with extrahepatic cholestasis and resmit in unnecessary operation. It is easy to diagmose intrahepatic cholestasis if imaging technıcs such as ultrasonography and PTC tire used.
