In this study, we aimed the evaluation of the laparoscopically treated ectopic pregnancy cases in our clinic. This retrospective study included 56 cases that were diagnosed to have ectopic pregnancy and treated by laparoscopy between January 2007 and December 2009. Patients characteristics such as age, gravidity, parity, symptoms, gestational age at the time of diagnosis, sonographic findings, preoperative and post-operative serum ß-human chorionic gonadotropin (ß-hCG) and hemoglobin levels, type of laparoscopic surgery, blood transfusion and additional treatments were recorded. The average age of the patients was 30.4±4.2 years, the average gestational age was 6.6±1.4 weeks, and the average ß-hCG value at presentation was 2932.4±2276.8 IU/L. The patients presented usually with pelvic pain and abnormal vaginal bleeding. Adnexal mass and hemoperitoneum were mostly seen by sonographic evaluation. Ampuller pregnancy was the most common. Most of patients had conservative surgery; salpingectomy was applied to 10.7% of patients. Ten patients received blood transfusion and 2 patients underwent re-laparoscopy because of postoperative bleeding. Serum ß-hCG levels returned to normal at the end of the 1st month after surgery in all patients. According to these findings, laparoscopic surgery is the most appropriate treatment for young patients with ectopic pregnancy who are hemodynamically stable and wish to preserve their fertility
