Diagnosis of acute abdomen in pregnancy is still a difficult situation. Due to physiological and anatomical changes of a pregnant woman during pregnancy, the diagnosis and treatment can be difficult to decide. In addition, some of the procedures used for the diagnosis are avoided because of risk to the fetus. Delay in the diagnosis may cause maternal morbidity, mortality, risk of fetal loss and can cause premature birth. Surgical intervention may be required or surgical intervention may be harmful in some cases. The incidence of acute abdomen in pregnancy has been reported as 1 in 500-635. Among the causes of nonobstetric acute abdomen in pregnancy are: acute appendicitis, intestinal obstruction, acute cholecystitis, cholelithiasis, inflammatory bowel disease, peptic ulcer, acute pancreatitis, hepatic rupture, intestinal obstruction, acute fatty liver of pregnancy and severe preeclampsia. The life of the mother and fetus are important in the diagnosis and treatment. Early diagnosis and treatment are very important for the fetus and the mother.
