The Candida species causing the common infection in human. This species can often be confused owing to similarities of their morphological, biochemical and physiological properties. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of Corn Meal Agar, Chromogenic Medium and API ID 32C in identification of Candida Species. 129 Candida strains were isolated from various clinical specimens. Candida species were identified a total of 10 and, C. albicans was determined as the most common species. C.dubliniensis rates were strikingly higher. While identification of all species was done with the API system, 9 species other than C.colliculosa were determined by Corn Meal Agar. However, only C. albicans, C.tropicalis, C.dubliniensis and C.krusei were identified by chromogenic agar medium. Conventional methods, such as Corn Meal Agar and semi-automated systems, such as API, can be used as a identification method in basement laboratory. But, the chromogenic media may be only an additional diagnostic method, because it has uncertainties and variable performance
