Aging and Extrapulmonary Tuberculosis: A 90 Year Old Case with Testicular Tuberculosis

Aim: Acute or chronic diseases, malnutrition, and the biological changes reagarding to aging can disrupt protective barriers, impair clearance mechanisms, and contribute to the expected age-related diminution in cellular immune responses to microorganisms such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Case Report: A 90 year old patient with the diagnosis of testicular tuberculosis after an operation because of a mass in testis was treated with isoniazide, rifampicin, ethambutol and morphozinamide. Conclusion: The extrapulmonary tuberculosis risk may increase in the elderly together with the increase in tuberculosis because aging may reduce the effectiveness of the body's immune system.
