An Investigation of Risk Factors and Coronary Heart Disease of Asymptomatic Adults in the Central Anatolia in Turkey

The Coronary heart disease and üs risk factors were investigated in Konya, which is placed in the central pan of Central Anatolia in Turkey. In 'his study 280 asymptomatic people, who are middle aged and over (.40), were selected randomize from Bozkır, a small town of Kon" ya, which shows a ho-mogen structure of population. All of the cases which were investigated, cardio-vascular system was examined. ECG and teleradiog-raphy were taken. In 54 cases (19.3%) hypertension, 11 cases (3.9%) hyperglisemia and 58 male cases (59.8%) smoking were found. Obesite was seen 17% of male and 27% of female. Ilypercholesterolarnia in 12% of cases and hypertrigliseridemia in 7.4% of cases were also seen. In 40 cases, coronary heart dis-ease was deterrnined. Incidence of hypefrtension was increasing with age, but the rale of cigarette-smoking was not changed. With the understanding of posiıive results of struggle -withreversible major risk factors periodic examinations in cases with high risk; furthermore investigation of risk factors medical and preventive treatment procedures were pointed out clearly as important issues which mut be followed by physidans.
