Yeni doğan bebeklerde kanama önemli bir sorundur, bunlardan dissemine intravasküler koagülasyonun sebep olduğu kanamalar en ağır prognoza sahip olanlarıdır. Bu raporda pediatrinin yeni doğan dönemi ile ilgili en ağır problemlerinden biri olan dissemine intravasküler koagülasyona bir vaka dolayısı ile değinilmiştir.
