Kompleks parsiyel nöbetlerin sadece temporal lobdan değil, ekstratemporal bölgelerden de kaynakla-nabileceği eski yıllardan beri bilinmektedir. 1954'de Penfield ve Jasper frontal lob stimulasyonu ile mo-tor otomatizma meydana gelen 3 vak'a rapor etmişler, Ajmon-Marsan ve Ralston 1957'de frontal, ek motor ve parieto-oksipital, Crandall 1973'dc cin-gulat kaynaklı nöbetleri tanımlamıştardır
