In the research, which was made in the Medicine and Education faculties of Konya Selguk University between April 1995 and May 1995, 245 students at the age of 18-25 were examined, 82 of whom were smokers, and 163 of whom were non-smokers. In addition to smoking habits, the intake of food con-taining vitamin C and its effect on the blood and urine vitamin C levels were examined. It has been observed that smoking decreased the blood vitamin C level. It has been also observed that intake of poor vitamin C had an important effect on the decrease of the blood vitamin C level. Increase in the uptake of pod rich in vitamin C has cor-relation with the increase in the blood vitamin C level in both smokers and non-smokers. It has been understood that smoking is harmful for the human health and urgent precautions should he taken against it.
