Appendiceal mucocele is the distension of the appendix lumen with mucoid material. Appendix rupture or peritoneal implantations do not occur in mucosal hyperplasia. However, if perforated, it might spread inside the abdomen and the resulting condition is called pseudomyxoma peritonei. Appendectomy was performed on an eight five year-old female patient because of appendiceal mucocele one year ago. Pseudomyxoma peritonei was determined in the followups. Laparotomy was performed on the patient. The implants in the abdomen were cleaned and omentectomy was performed. In appendiceal mucocele, the mass should be removed totally without being perforated. It might spread inside the abdomen following tumor perforation and pseudomyxoma peritonei might occur. When pseudomyxoma peritonei is found, radiotherapy should be planned following the total removal of the tumor.
