Nt. N (native nephrectomy) is not a frequently performed procedure following transplantation because the kidneys have important endocrinal functions in the organism. Therefore, native kidneys should not be displaced following transplantation. A 48-year-old female patient presented to the ER (emergency room) with complaints of abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and fever. The patient’s history revealed that she had undergone cadaveric renal transplant about 30 months ago. Examination showed that there was comprehensive sensitivity and rebound all about the abdomen. Her urinary sediment contained an ample amount of leucocytes and erythrocytes. The patient who did not show any improvement regarding the sepsis indications in spite of liquid replacement and appropriate antibiotheraphy was taken into surgery. The patient received bilateral Nt. N from the midline incision. Bilateral Nt. N is a rare procedure. Sepsis and acute abdomen problems brought about by recurrent native renal infections of the patient were successfully treated by bilateral Nt. N . We think that for this case native nephrectomy should have been performed under better conditions before development of sepsis and acute abdomen conditions due to recurrent renal infections.
