It has been known for many years that complex partial seizures can originate not only from the temporal lobe but also from the extratemporal regions. In 1954, Penfield and Jasper reported three cases of motor automatism with frontal lobe stimulation, Ajmon-Marsan and Ralston described frontal, additional motor and parieto-occipital sequences in 1957, and Crandall described gin-gulate sequences in 1973.
