Giant Schwannoma Of The Neck

Schwannoma is a benign, solitary, and slowly progressive encapsulated tumor originating from the sheath of myelinated nerve fibers. The neoplasm should arise from all the peripheric, spinal or cranial nerves and frequently seen in the head and neck region. A 33 years-old male presented with a 10x10x6 cms giant mass of the right neck. A surgical resection was performed and the histopathologic examination of the mass was reported to be “schwannoma”. Here, a case of giant schwannoma, which is very rare in the literature, and treatment modalities are discussed.
