HbAlc Levels in Iron Deficiency Anemia

This study was performed on 17 healthy persons and 30 patients with iron deficiency anemia who applied to the department of internal medicine at the Selcuk University medical school. The aim of this study was to investigate HbAlc levels in iron de-ficinecy anemia and to find if there were measured only once in the control group, wherase me-asurements in the patient group were done at the he-gining of iron therapy and after six weeks of tre-atment HbAlc levels after treatment were significantly lower than HbAlc levels before tre-atment (p<0.001). Compering to the control group HbAlc levels were significantly higher before tre-atment in the patient group (p<0.05). Where as there were no statistically significant difference after treatment (p<0.05). Where as there were no statistically significant difference after treatment (p<0.05). As a result these differences in HbAlc le-vels may he used for diagnosis, dedection of res-ponse to treatment and follow up it iron deficiency anemia in conjunction with the other parameters.
