Importance of shotguns concerning Forensic medicine

As all over the world, crimes commited with fi-rearms are widely spread in Turkey. Particulary in the rural areas, crimes commited by shotguns are common. To have accurate knowledge about a shot-gun and a shotgun shell is essential for judicial pro-ceedings. Correct investigation of wound will help the origin of case. In this study not only general in-formation about shotgun and shotgun shell but also fundamentals off ring distance which may help for-ming the criterias of case have been given.
