The Microbial flora of dermatitic skin, unin-volved skin, and the anterior nares of subjects with atopic dermatitis were investigated. The carriage rate of St. aureus was 90% .for the anterior nares, 55% for the tuzinvolved skin and 90% for lesions. The coagulase-negative staphylococci were the second predominant organism. On normal skin, co-agulase-negative staphylococci were the pre-dominant organism. The carriage rate of CMS and micrococci was 80% for the anterior wires, 80% .for the uninvolved skin and 75% for lesions. The car-riage rate of diphteroids was 40% for the anterior flares, 75% uninvolved skin and 60% for the lesions.
