This study is performed in 57 renal transplant recipients and 57 hemodialysis patients with chronic renal failure in the Nephrology Division of the Department of Internal Mek-lif-...ine, University of Hacettepe School of Medicine and llemodialysis Unit (4- the Department of Internal Medicine, University of Selçuk School of Medicine_ Cytornegalovirus (CMV) IgM and 1gG antibodies were deterrnined in blood sarnples by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) rnethod in the Microbiology Laboratory of Selçuk University. 1,Ve compared the results with control including 50 healty individuals. We fourıd CMV-IgM seropositivity 56.14%, CMV- IgG seropositivity 100% in the renal transplant recipients and CMV-IgM seropositivity 24.56%, CM11-IgG se.ropotisivity 91.23% in the hernoclialysis patients. In control group, CMV-IgM seropositivity was 2% and CMV-IgG seropositivity 50%. The rates of CMV-1gM and Ig G seropositivity in the renal transplant recipients and hemodialysis patients with chronic renal failure were high and significant according ta the control group (p<0.01).
