The Results of Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) with Fat and Fat-free Solutions in the Patients with Protein Energy Malnutrition

The effect of total parenteral nutrition (TPN) with fat and fat-free solutions in eight patients who had protein-energy malnutrition was investigated. All patients gained weight except one in fat-free group with recurrent bowel obstruction due ta bezoar. Some unirnportant changes in liver functions was observed in fat group. Liver functions returned to normal values, in a short time after TPN.
