Aim: This cross-sectional study aims to determine job satisfaction of research assistants taking medical specialization education at Meram Medical School and factors that may be related to job satisfaction. Patients and Methods: A questionnaire consisting of Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale and questions regarding demographic information is applied to 244 (80,2% ) physician assistants via face to face meeting. Results: 52.5% of participants were male, 55.3% of them were married and 29.1% had at least one child. Average of age was 28.42±3.02 years. Average number of night duties monthly was 6.53±4.10. 9.8% of research assistants had quitted a specialization education before. 60.6% of physicians were not content with their salaries. Overall satisfaction point average was 3.24±0.53, intrinsic satisfaction point average was 3.40±0.56, extrinsic satisfaction point average was found to be 2.97±0.62. Extrinsic satisfaction point averages of physicians working in basic sciences was found to be significantly higher than averages of physicians working in internal medicine and surgery branches. 33.2% of physicians were satisfied with working conditions, 44.3% with their chiefs’ behaviours towards employees, 84.4% with their colleagues. Overall satisfaction and extrinsic satisfaction points of participants who graduated from medical schools in Konya were meaningfully higher than points of those who graduated from medical schools outside Konya. Conclusions: Improving the working environments and conditions of physicians having busy schedule, enabling them to have a voice in institution policies, increasing the wages will not only increase the job satisfaction level of research assistant physicians, but also the quality of service provided to patients.
