Bacteriologicaly Examination of Money in Circulation

Used banknotes and coins obtained from dillerent occupation groups and beggars and also unused ob-tained from Central Bank were examined bacteriolog-ically. Saprophitic or pathogenic bacteria on those mo-ney were examined. Growing bacteria on cultures made from obtained money were respectively Ba-cilles sp., Enterococcus, Pneumococcus, S. epider-midis, E.coli, S.aureus, Enterobacter sp., other sto-phylococci sp. Klebsiella and Proteus. Statistical differences of observed microorganisms on, used and unused money were determined. It was observed that the amount of microorgan-isms grew on money in circulation were significant-ly higher than those were not yet in us. Some pre-cautions were proposed in respect of public health.
