Serum insulin levels of 48 hyperthyroidic (21 male, 27 female), 36 hypothyroidir (18 male, 1 8 female) and 72 control group (36 male,36fernak)were investigated. Patients and controls were between the same range of age. Average serum insuliıı leveis of healthy contwls, hyperıhyroidic and hypoıhyroidir pallents were 10.9±2 .6 plUlml, 21 .0±7.9 and 6.7±1 .9 pllllmi, res-pertively. As it is seen from the results, insulin !evei of hyperthyroldic patients was significantly (p<0.001 ) increased, while that of hyporthyroidic patients was decreased (p<0.001). Those alterations in insulin leveis were thoutf,:ht to be due to alterations in carbohydrate metabolism.
