Cesarean rates, going where?

AIM: Our aim is to evaluate the rates, indications and complications of cesarean section, to discuss how to reduce rates, indications and complications in Selçuk University Facult of Medicine. MATERIAL-METHODS: VVomen who gave birth in Selçuk University Facult of Medicine Obstetrics and Gynecology Department between 1992-1999 were examined retrospectively. Cesaren rates, indications, complications, mortality and morbidity were evaluated. FINDINGS: Total cesarean rate was % 23.8. 1/3 of this was composed of previous cesarean. Primary cesarean rate was % 25,5. We found an increasing cesarean rate because of previous cesareans with resultant increase in total cesarean rate every year. CONCLUSION: Cesarean rates were increasing every year. Determination of primary cesarean indication more carefully, planning of vaginal birth for previous low seğmeni transverse incisions would decrease cesarean rate.
