Incisional hernia is a frequently encountered complication
after abdominal surgery and require repeat surgical repair. We
were retrospectively evaluated the patients underwent open and
laparoscopic ventral incisional hernia repair (LVHR) with Dual Mesh.
Between December 2008 and February 2015, age, gender, body mass
index, the location and size of the hernia, surgical procedure (open/
laparoscopic), accompanied which other surgical pathology, length
of hospital stay, mortality and morbidity rates were obtained and
evaluated of the patients who were admitted to our clinic and repaired
open and or laparoscopic surgery with Dual Mesh. A total of 28
patients, 15 were female and 13 were male. The mean age was 57.78±
12:39 (38-78) years. 12 patients were operated laparoscopically,
remaining 16 with open psurgery. Hernia size was 12.0±2.6 (5-32)
cm. The average length of hospital stay was 5.75±5.25 (1-21) days.
Except the two surgical site infection and one seroma in both groups,
no other complications or recurrences were seen. Ventral incisional
hernia repair with Dual mesh at LVHR compared to open surgery was
effective and safe treatment option with its short hospital stay and
less morbidity.
