Computed Tomograply With Artificial Pne-urnomediastiznum.

In the first 4 months of 1994 we carried out, in 20 cases computed tomography (CT) after artificial pneumomediastinum (AP). In 15 cases for air in-sulation into the mediastinum was used the trans-tracheal route and in 5 cases retroxiphoid route. In this article aong them 2 cases with bronchial car-cinoma is presented because we could not reach a decision whether they were operable or not by cli-nical findings and available methods including CT. But, at the first case CT performed after AP proved clearly no tumoral invasion in the mediastinum, at the second case it showed indirect signs of the me-diastinal invasion. In both cases thoracotomy con-firmed these findings_ As a result, it can be put for-wad that in some cases with bronchial carcinoma CT combined AP may he useful to assess the pos-sibility or chirurgical intervention.
