Between 1983-1988 378 patients with thoracic trauma were admitted to the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascu-lar Surgery, Selçuk University School of Medicine. In 74.3 percent of the cases cause was blunt injury and 25.7 percent due to penetrating trauma. In majority of the patients treatment was Conservative. Only 2.2 percent of the cases had emergency thorocotomy. Overall mortalıty rate was 5.3 percent.
