Cyst Aspiration and Iophendylate Application

Percutaneous cyst aspiration and iophendylate application were performed tü 19 patients who were evaluated as having a simple cyst when they applied to our clinic between the dates of January 1990 and August 1992. The applications were carried out under ultrasonographic control and local anesthesia. The cytologic and bacteriologic examination of the cyst liquid were performed. The results proved the preoperative simple cyst diagnose. lt was understood that iophendylate had a sclerosant effect on the cyst in the periodic post operation examinations. Also it was understood that this application had an important support on preventing the negative effects of great cystic mass on the paranchima and collector system and also it had an importance on deciding the nature of the cyst and in the reductions of cyst volume.
