The importance of the NLR and PLR are being investigated by different studies including in cardiology, oncology, general surgery. In this study, the importance of these hematological parameters were evaluated in peptic ulcer perforation. A total of 25 patients who underwent surgery due to the peptic ulcer perforation were evaluated retrospectively in Necmettin Erbakan University. Meram Faculty of Medical between 2012 and 2015. Patients having chronic inflammatory diseases, organ failure, cardiac, ischemic and hematological disease were also excluded from the study. Patients having any infection in the past three weeks were excluded First, hemograms performed in the emergency clinic were evaluated for NLR and PLR. Perforation size and operation techniques evaluated from operation notebook. Patients had omental patch and primary repair was performed for remaining twenty patients. Perforation width was smaller than 0.5 cm in patients having primary repair and, NLP values were ranged from 2.4 to 13. It was determined that Patients had omental patch made whose perforations were greater than 1 cm and NLP values were ranged from 12.2 to 42.4. PLR levels were >72 in patient having small perforation, however it was greater than 101 in large perforation patients. In patients NLR values greater than 12.2, whoseperforations are likely to have wide. Omental patch can be the first choice. If the study is repeated on large series we believe more reliable results can be taken.
