The inferior vena cava is formed by complex process involving
the several anastomoses between three paired embryonic veins
during the fifth to the eighth week of embryonic development. It is
reported that abnormalities in this complex development may result
various defects. Double inferior vena cava is the most common
anomaly affecting the vena cava, though it is a rare pathology. In
this study, a 17 year old male patient was presented who admitted
to our hospital with acute abdominal pain and were determined by
chance during routine inspections double inferior vena cava anomaly.
In recent years, the development of modern imaging techniques and
with the widespread clinical use of these asymptomatic inferior vena
cava anomaly has been identified as incidental facilities are provided.
In particular, retroperitoneal surgery in order to avoid complications
that could occur in pairs inferior vena cava anomaly detection is
important.
