The renin angiotensin system is thought to be modulated by gonadal steroids. After unilateral nephrectomy and unilateral nephrectomy + bilateral ovariectomy, occured changes were investigated in this study. Right nephrec- tomized and rigth nephrectomized + bilateral ovariectomized female rats left kidneys were examined histopatho- logically after four week. Severe inflammatory reaction was observed in only nephrectomized rats after four week. Moreover acut renal ischaemia was observed in the unilateral nephrectomized + total ovariectomized rats left kid- ney. Our results showed that gonadal steroids may have a role in modulating acut renal ischaemia.
