Thirty-nine patients with mild to moderate hypertension were studied at Koşuyolu Heart and Research Hospital between March 1992 and September 1992. The patients were giyen increasing doses of enalapril to a maximum dose of 20 mglday and if necessary diuretic. Ambulatoly pressures were monitored at base line and at the end of 4 weeks of treatment in the case of responders. Total responder rate was 74%. Pre and post treatment mean arterial pressures were 148±9/95±4 and 136±5/87±4 mmHg, respectively (p<0.001). Between 2300-0700 hours these values were 138±5192±3 and 130±5/84±4 mmlig, respectively (p<0.01). Treatment was stopped in one case because of adverse drug effect. In summary enalapril is well tolerated and once daily administiration appeared to be ellective in mild to moderate hypertension
