The aim of this study was to examine vvhether low birth weight has a relation with the physical values of foot size among nevvborns. This study was performed on 60 lovv birth vveight nevvborn infants (30 males and 30 females) and 60 normal healty nevvborns (30 males and 30 females). Bimalleolus vvidth, heel vvidth, food length and food vvidth measurements vvere evaluated. The values of ali parameters excluding heel vvidth shovved statistically sig- nificant relationship with the vveight of nevvborns (p<0.001). There is statistically significant differences foot length and heel vvidth betvveen sexes in low birth vveight of nevvborns, that it was larger from females (p<0.05). Similarly there was also statistically significant differences betvveen sexes of birth groups (p<0.001). Excluding heel vvidth a significant correlation exists betvveen birth vveight and foot measurement parameters of both groups (p<0.001). İt is concluded that measured values of foot parameters are good predictor of lovv birth vveight of nevvborns.
