Between May 1984-April 1988 7 cases with destroyed lung were treated at S. Ü. Faculty of Medicine Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgical Department. The youngest and oldest patients were 5 and 47 years old. Patients presented themselves with coughing, purulant sputum, dyspnea, pleural pain and hemoptysis. Clubbing of fingers was common in all cases. We obtained no perfusion in the destroyed lung side whom we could research. Surgical treatment with 5 pneumonectomy and 2 pleuropneumonectomy were corned out. There were 2 empyema as post operative complication with broncho-pleural fistula in one patient. This patient died following thoracoplasty. The other patient is still alive with open drainage.
