In this ligin microscopic study, the ellects of morphine sulfate on nasal mast celis was in-vestigated using alcian blue-safranin O and to-luidin blue staining methods. The investigation was peıformed on 20 m❑le and female albino rats which were obtained from the E.xperimental Animal Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine, Selçuk University. Rats were divided int° two groups of ten rats each. First group was considered as control group. Percutaneous injection of 200 ıngikg morphine sulphate was administered to the second group. Rats were anesthetized by ether and regio res-piratoria nasi of rats were frontally excised. Tissues were fued in Carnoy solution for three days at room temperature, dehydrated with absolute al-cohol and eınbedded in parallin. Five micrometer sections were eut from the paran blocks using ro-tary microtome and stained with alcian blue-safranin O and toluidin blue solutions. In conclıtsion, control group slides demostrated normal appearing mast rens with dark violet (with toluidin blue) and red and reddish-hlue (with alcian blue-safranin O) stained granules. In contrast, the ınorphine sulphate stimulated specimens exhibited no granules.
