It was been presented 6 massive intestinal resection cases due to acute mesenteric vasculary occlusion in 3 cases strangulated small bowel obstruction in one case, perforated Mediterranean lymphoma in one case and ascariasis in one case between 1983-1987 in Selçuk University Medicine Faculty Alt of them developed short bowel syndrome. Total parenteral nutrition (TPN) was applied up to adaptation for new condi-tion and prevention of and treat the early complications. Five cases were successful, one case died after two months postoperation. The highy early mortality and morbidity rate can be decreased by TPN in short bowel syndrome cases.
