Hypersensitivity pneumonia is an inflammatory interstitial lung
disease caused by immune response due to inhalation of various
organic and chemical substances. Bird fancier’s lung disease is a
hypersensitivity pneumonia which develops in response to organic
bird products. Hypersensitivity pneumonitis is caused by many birds,
especially pigeon. In the current case, the diagnosis was subacute
hypersensitivity pneumonitis. Thirty two year-old male was admitted
to chest diseases outpatient clinic due to two months of effort
dyspnea, dry cough, fever, sweating, fatigue and weight loss. The
patient has a history of pigeon feeding. The patient was diagnosed
as pigeon fancier’s lung disease by the help of the history, physical
examination, pulmonary function tests, chest radiography and highresolution
computed tomography findings, and he had prednisolone
therapy. As a result, an early diagnosis and then early treatment
after the necessary precautions are very important to avoid chronic
progress of these diseases.
