Department of Emergency Medicine was es-tablished in Selçuk University in Septemher 1995 . During the period hetween Septemher 1 1995 and March 31, 1996 7349 patients administered to ouı-Emergency Department. Trauma was the most com-mon problem, accounting 32.7 % of all visits_ Motor vehicle trauma accounted 51% of all traumatic pre-sentations. 56% of injured patients vere hetween 15 and 45 years old. When we studied the patient ar-by time of day, we found ıhat there was an increase in patient arrivals hetween 11.00 and 13.00 irr day and 18.00 and 21.00 in the evening. Residency training in emergency medicine is irr its infancy itr Turkey, and the presence of specialists will help inzprove qualky of enıergency medi•al care in our counn-y.
