Pregnancy diabetes scanning in pregnant women who live in Elazığ Yenimahalle training and research health department region

İn this study, the pregnant women live in Yenimahalle Training and Research Health Department (YMTRHD) region, at the 24-28 th pregnancy week were applied the Glucose Scanning Test in order to determine the abnor- mal glucose values. On June 2001 and in YMTRHD region, there has been 205 pregnant women at the midwives. 201 of them (98%) was accepted to fulfill the scanning test. The mean age of the pregnant vvomen was 26.9±5.5. İn the study we found the rate of positiveness in Glucose Scanning Test (GST) as 18.9%; and the rate of positive- ness in Oral Glucose Tolerance Test as 4.5%. İt is observed that GSTpositiveness has no relation with diabetes- existence, macrosomia story, obesity and parity (p>0.05). Consequently, Gst was determined positive in the 18.9% of the pregnant women who live in YMTRHD region. İt is observed that parity, aprevious history of overweight born baby, Body Mass lndex (BMI) and diabetes history in the family do not change the result of the test. For this rea- son, it has been determined that GST should be applied to ali the pregnant women who exceed 24th week of preg­ nancy.
