Presence of Yersinia enterocolitica in Turkish Style White and Kaşar (Kosher) Cheese Consumed in İstanbul Market

In this studv, 84 unripened Kaşar (Kosher), 44 ripened Kaşar (Kosher) and 41 pickled white cheese, totaly 169 cheese samples has been examined for the presence of Yersinia enterocolitica. Several bioche-ırticai tests vere applied for the decisive diagnose of suspected colonies growing in CIN and MacConkey Agar. In conclusion, Yersinia enterocolitica has been isolated from 4 unripened Kaşar, 2 ripened Kaşar and 1 white cheese samples, totaly 7 cheese samples. In determination of biotypes: as two out of seven with biotype I, three with biotype 3, one with biotype 5, one strain was found to be atypic.
