Quality Of Life And Psychiatric Properties In Children With Functional Abdominal Pain

In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the effects of functional abdominal pain and psychiatric signs on life quality in childrens and adolescents. 30 patients diagnosed with functional abdominal pain according to Roma III criterias and 30 healthy children as control group matched of age and gender were included in the study. Child Depression Inventory (CDI), State-Trait Anxiety Inventories for Children (STAI-C) and Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory Parent and Child Versions (PedQL-P and C) were applied to both patient and control groups. All scale scores of life quality of childrens and adolescents with functional abdominal pain were statisticaly significance lower than control group (p<0.001). All the score of life quality in terms of parents of childrens and adolescents with functional abdominal pain were statisticaly significance lower than control group (p<0.001). Depression scale, trait anxiety inventory and state anxiety scores for children and adolescents with functional abdominal pain were statisticaly significance higher than control group (p<0.001, p=0.003, p=0.001, respectively). When compared to control group, lower life quality scale scores , increased anxiety levels tendency to depression and generally decreased life quality status were determined in functional abdominal pain group.
