A number of study investigating effects of HDL-C metabolism on atherosclerosis formation have been performed. These studies have shown that HDL-C has a protective role against at-herosclerosis. It has been staded that HDL-C levels of women are higher than those of men. It is not known whether this lower level of HDL-C in men de-pends on their life-style or endogen sex hormones. In our study, we investigated effects of HDL-C and male sex hormones on atherosclerosis. Patients were classified into three classes according to the number of arteries involved by coronary angioraphy as one, two and three arteries. Control group was choisen from subjects not showing any arterial in-volvement. Levels of serum total cholesterol, HDL-C, LDL-C , total testosteron, free testosteron and DHEA SO4 were analyzed in all subjects. A significant cor-relation was observed between free testosteron and HDL-C levels of all patients.
