Objective : Relation betvveen progression of spontaneous labor and success of induction with serum levels of DHEAS in mother and cord blood. Material-Method : This study contains 140 pregnant women who were follovved and gave birth in our clinic betvveen September 1998-March 1999 gestational age 38-44 vveeks. Blood samples was collected from mothers in latent phase of labor and from umblical cord in labor, serum DHEAS levels were evaluated. Findings : 70 pregnant vvomen vvho were entered and progressed labor spontaneously; and 70 vvomen in whom labor induction was used, vvere compared in terms of cord blood serum DHEAS levels. No statistically important difference was found. But, statistically, mother's serum DHEAS level vvas significantly higher in first group Women vvho entered labor spon taneously, 40 of them gave birth in less then 9 hours and 30 of them labor prolayed more than 9 hours. There is no sta tistically important difference vvas found in terms of mother and cord blood serum. DHEAS levels. From 70 vvomen in whom labor induction vvas used, in 40 of them induction vvas successful and in 30 of them there vvas no ansvver to in duction. There vvas no statistically important defference in therms of mother and cord blood serum DHEAS levels bet vveen these two groups. Conclucion : There can be relation betvveen the level of mother's serum DHEAS and the be- ginning of labor. But vve could not find any relation betvveen labor time and the level of cord ant mother serum DHEAS.
