Serum selenium levels were investigated in both 65 cases who are living where white muscle disease of lambs were often observed and 33 cases where the disease seen rarely. The selenium level was 60.425±11.727 in first group and 70.849±12.868 pıgli, in the second and statistically significant difference was observed between the two groups (p<0.01). Particulary in the first group the selenium level was lower (han the values which reported as normal (78-320 !mit) selenium levels. Epidemiological and clinical studies indicate that low selenium levels can be an etiological cause for cardiovascular disease. Therefor it may be suggested that determination of coronary risk factors, incidance of coronary heart disease and fulfilling of prospective studies relatid with the subject would be usefil.
