Single incision laparoscopic surgery is a rapidly evolving laparoscopic surgical approach. We report a comparison of single incision laparoscopic appendectomy (SILA) and standard laparoscopic appendectomy (SLA). Thirty-one patients who applied to a city hospital, and underwent laparoscopic appendectomy were included in this study. Twelve patients received SILA and 19 patients received SLA. Operation time, hospital stay, postoperative pain, diet, and postoperative complication were reviewed. There were no statistically significant differences in patients demographics and no differences between SILA, and SLA patients respectively, in operation time (65.8-58.9 minutes p>0.05), duration of hospitalization (1.8-1.3 days p>0.05), mean visual analogue scale score (2.8-2.6 p>0.05), and return to diet (12-14 hours p>0.05). Single incision laparoscopic appendectomy in experienced centers, can be a serious alternative to conventional laparoscopic appendectomy. Laparoscopy can be applied in each center, because it does not require special tools.
