The Comparison of Oral Ketamine Usage in Two Different Doses for Pediatric Premedication

Ketamine has been applied in children in dif-ferent doses and ways for patients. Ketamine was given to the first group in dose 4 mglkg and to the second group in dose 6 mglkg mixed in 0.2 mlik-g cola 20 minutes before induction of anesthesia.,Ke-tamine was tolerated well in both groups. Sedation was evaluated according to Wilton's sedation scales. Five minutes after premedication there was no sta-tistical difference in sedation scores (p>0.05). But in the period 10., 15. and 20. minutes after pre-medication significant statistical difference was oh-served in the scores of awake, calm and asleep si-tuation (p<0_05). The second group tolerated the mask better than the first. As a complication nis-tagmus, tongue fasciculation, increase in oral sec-reafion were noticed during the procedure_ As a result oral ketamine in dose 6 mglkg was found preferable due to sedation, reaction to mask, I.V. catheter application and causing the similar complication as comparated with oral ketamine in doses, 4 mg/ k g
