The purpose of our study was to compare the use of slide agglutination and tube-dilution agglutination test (Widal test) in the diagnosis of Salmonella (typhi and paratyphi) infectıons. It was found that both techrii4lıes gaye similar diagnostic resu. lts and dillerdnces between them were statistically insignificant. We, therefore, concluded from our studies that a sim-ple slide agglutination test might be suitable for testing a large nunıber of blood specimens instead of Widal testing for infection with Salmonella (typhi and paratyphi).
