Between 1984 and 1991. 14patients treated with the diagnosis of pyogenic hepatic abcess were re-viewed retrospectively. The complaints, physical ex-aminations, laboratory results and the treatment methods of these patients were compared with the literature. The importance of U.S. in diagnosis and differan-diagnosis but also the highly incidence of error is implicated. Also the diagnostic value in extrahepatic bile duct diseases which has importance in etiology is the superiority of U.S. Operative drainage and antibiotic therapy is seen ta be the most effective treatment especially in the patients with extra-hepatic bile duet diseases. Also it is deterınined that percutanous abscess drainage under the guidance of U.S. is an effective method in sekcted cases.
