The distribution of the etiologic agents of di-arrhoea and their seasonal features

From stools of 113 childiren, who carne owing to complain of diarı-hoea to ouı- outpatient depaı-tment. microbiolojic cultures have heen made to identify the etiologic agent. From this cultures, 28.3 % Ro-tavirus has heen identıfied. The otheı- agents were S. typhimurium (10.6 %), EPEC (7 %), S. flexneri (2.7 %), Candida (0.8 %) and Giaı-dia (0.8 %). C jejuni has heen searched, but from nobody could be ide-ified. 83.2 % of this childı-en wer-e 1-12 monts old. In autumn, the incidence qf pathologic agents were sig-nificantly higheı- as in winter (p< 0.05). According to our fiı-ıdings, diarrhoea is stili an important di-sease among the childiren who are 0-2 vears old and the rotavirus is the most fi-equent cause of di-arrhoea rn childiren, specially in cold seasons.
