The effects of Chitin molecules, used prevention of abdominal adhesions, on organ functions were investigated. 40 patients, underwent surgery for gastric cancer and colorectal cancer and resectable initiatives were included in this study. After surgery, two Chitin Suprofilm ® in size of 15X10 cm were placed under the incision line. AST, Creatinin, BUN levels were measured in patients at preoperative, postoperative 1st and 5th days. There was no statistically significant difference in means of Creatinin, AST, and BUN levels between groups in three measurement. Having used Suprofilm® (Chitin) with adequate hydration, liver and kidney dysfunction was not developed. We think that Suprofilm® (Chitin) can be used safely as antiadhesive.
