İn this study, with the aid of the Cytokinesis-Blocked method, MN ratios were investigated in the peripheral blood lymphocyte cultures obtained from healthy donors consisting of 10 male and 10 female cigarette smokers, who v/ere never exposed to any known mutagens versus 10 male and 10 females, v/ho have never smoked cigarette before and never exposed to any of the known mutagens as age matched control group. Our findings showed that the mean MN ratio of the cigarette smokers is significantly higher than the mean MN ratio of the control group (PcO.001). This findings showed that cigarette smoking is one of the important mutagenic factors which caused damage to human genetic materials.
